About Cooking-for-one-person.com

What is
Cooking-for-one-person.com?
Cooking-for-one-person.com guides, instructs, and inspires the
millions of people like you who are cooking for one. The art and
science of cooking for one person is to be sensible, satisfying, and
simplified.
How can
Cooking-for-one-person.com help me?
Cooking-for-one-person.com is designed for you: the single person.
The kitchen poses
challenges, frustrations, and burnt mistakes for the person cooking
for one.
You can't get help. You can't find
recipes. You don't want to be in the kitchen for hours - nor should
you.
It puzzles me that many singles view
eating/cooking as an inconvenience, as simply a chore of
"refueling". Many spend more time putting clothes on their bodies
than deciding what will go into their bodies. As adults, nobody
feeds us except ourselves. We make the decisions as to what fills
our stomachs.
I realize there are a number of myths and
difficulties surrounding cooking for one person. It's all about you.
We all live different lifestyles, so not everything will work for
everyone, but everything is tailored for the person cooking for one.
There was
so little information available for a person cooking for one. With
millions of single people all cooking for themselves, I knew I was
in good company - YOU!
This website is a product of my personal work, experience, and love.
I do not believe you need to be condemned to subsist off of fast
food or frozen dinners. You don't need to have a family to validate
eating yummy foods to make your tummy happy.
Are you a chef?
I am not a chef, nor do I claim to be.
Unless you have a chef or cook cooking for you, I designed this site
with the realization that you will be doing the cooking. Individual
cooking abilities will vary from person to person. Even though you
are one person, you still deserve TLC.
You want to fix and eat good food, and
your ambition may not to be a gourmet chef. Your mother or
grandmother may not have been a chef or master cook, but their food
was cooked with love and care.
Does
Cooking-for-one-person.com follow a diet or health plan?
Cooking-for-one-person.com does not
intentionally subscribe to a particular diet plan or health regime.
Cooking-for-one-person.com's approach is simple: balanced, authentic,
satisfying
food.
The information on
this website accentuates real, natural food in meals that reflect
diversity, balance, and moderation. Basic, straight-forward
ingredients are the backbone of the recipes.
If you have certain
dietary concerns, you can fill in the personal gaps or exceptions.
Regardless of individual dietary concerns, few things in life can
affect your health and well-being more than good food.
I grew up in under the influence of my suburban
family who ate local, wholesome, basic food before it became
socially fashionable. I would pick cherries on an early July
morning, and have homemade cherry pie for dinner that night. Summer
afternoons of picking blackberries would result in chilly January
mornings with jam-topped toast. My family had a generation-long
relationship with a family farm acquiring fresh corn, peaches,
beans, and squash as summer gave way to autumn.
I worked in the natural food industry
for a short time, so this site accentuates whole, real foods without
being unreasonable. If you live alone, you may not be able to "go
back to the land" because your fourth floor apartment doesn't
include a patch of green, but you can eat real food with real flavor
and real inherent nutrients.
This website is your virtual handbook.
Snoop around and come back often. The kitchen's always open for you!
Cheers,
