Pasta feeds a hundred . . . . or just one!
Pasta should be, without a doubt, a staple in your cupboards.
Pasta, in my opinion, is one of the greatest culinary inventions. It can be cooked in any desired quantity. It comes in as many shapes as there are ways to use it in easy pasta recipes. I would suggest keep at least two different shapes: long and thin (i.e. spaghetti, linguine, fetticini) and a compact, thicker form (i.e. ziti, penne, farfalle). Lighter sauces cling better to thinner shapes while thicker, heavier sauces pair well with stockier forms. Dry pasta has a very long shelf life as long as it is properly kept dry and sealed, so you don't need to use the entire package.
If you can boil water, you can cook pasta.
Pasta can form the "backbone" of easy pasta recipes. For the individual cooking for one person, it can be as easy as adding a simple sauce, some chopped vegetables, or some bite-sized pieces of meat. Ta-da, dinner is ready in minutes.
Do not condemn pasta to just bathe tomato sauce. There are so many other options and creative possibilities. The following recipes offer some different ways to use pasta.
