A table for one can be the best seat in the house.
Eating alone is one of the customs of a single person. Eating, especially for dinner, is culturally a social experience. People tend to gravitate towards other human interaction while eating. Socialization and eating go hand-in-hand. Both are intimate, sensory daily customs. However, what if you are cooking for one person, and you are eating alone?
You are your own best company.
Often singles use the television as a substitute human companion while eating. You check the news, watch your favorite program, or simply use it as background noise.
The primary problem is there truly isn't human interaction or dialogue in squatting yourself in front of the T.V. Your eyes and attention tend to be glued to the screen and not the delicious meal in front of you. You may just view this brief time as "refueling", and overlook the subtle joys of eating alone.
